Thank you to everyone who responded to the 2nd phase of consultation on the Leigh town centre Levelling Up Fund bid.
A summary of the feedback received is now available on our Commonplace site here.
The bid has been submitted to government and we expect to hear which bids have been successful in the autumn.
We acknowledge that the latest round of consultation attracted more negative comments than the earlier consultation. However, the selected projects align well with the strategic ambitions for Leigh in the adopted SRF and meet the deliverability and value for money tests that government set for this bidding process. There will be opportunities to refine the projects in consultation should be bid be successful.

A consultation is now open on the proposed Levelling Up Fund bid for Leigh town centre.
In March 2022, we asked your views on a long list of projects could form part of the funding bid for Leigh town centre. Over 200 responses were received and were overwhelmingly positive towards the list of possible projects. We considered how the projects are likely to perform against the LUF criteria above (fit with policies and strategies; deliverability; and value for money) and selected a package of projects that we consider to best to drive sustainable regeneration in Leigh town centre.

The consultation will be open until Thursday 30th June and we appreciate your feedback.

A big thank you to all those who submitted responses or spoke with us in Leigh town centre and at Leigh Library in late March with regard to what you would like to see happen to Leigh Town Centre as part of a Levelling Up Fund bid and potential options for the redevelopment of Leigh Civic Square.

The next stage will be refining and working up potential projects for the Levelling Up Fund bid and focussing on more detailed plans for the preferred option for the Civic Square. We’ll be back in touch in May with another opportunity to have your say on these projects.
